About your therapist

My name is Jenny Underwood and I have been a qualified reflexologist since 2004, having trained at the Oxford School of Reflexology.  I also trained in giving Indian Head Massage.

I have a special interest in reflexology in pregnancy and childbirth, and reflexology and infertility.

In 2007 I trained as a baby reflex practitioner and am qualified to train parents/carers in giving reflexology to their babies.

I am a member of the Association of Reflexologists, whose aim is to help maintain a high standard of practice and patient care, and to promote reflexology.  Members are bound by the Association’s codes of practice and ethics.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a holistic healing technique which works on the feet to help heal the whole person not just the prevailing symptoms, with the aim of inducing a state of balance within the body.  Therefore a reflexology treatment reaches the receiver on a physical, mental and spiritual level.

The foot massage the reflexologist uses is a specific pressure technique that works on precise points on the feet, as they believe that reflex areas on the feed correspond with all parts of the body, and by applying gentle pressure to these points the related area in the body is stimulated an cleared of congestion, thus bringing the body back into balance.

What are the benefits of reflexology?

Reflexology may:

reflexology1

  • Improve energy levels
  • Promote better sleep
  • Provide a feeling of wellbeing
  • Reduce tension headaches
  • Improve concentration
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Relieve Stress
  • Promote deep relaxation

Reflexology as a preventive treatment

Preventive therapy is useful for people who have completed a course of treatment and wish to stop problems re-emerging as well as for those who may not have any acute symptoms but understand the need for preventative action.

What happens during a treatment?

At the first session I will take a detailed medical history from you to give me an overall picture of your health and lifestyle and to identify a safe and suitable course of treatment tailor made for you. You will then be asked to remove your footwear and lie back on a comfortable reclining couch with headrest and made to feel comfortable and relaxed.  Candles will be lit and if you wish, relaxing music will be played during the treatment.  Pressure will be applied to your feet and lower legs.  If there are any imbalances in your body these may show up on your feet.  All areas on both feet will be massaged.  At the end of the treatment your feet should feel warm and you should feel very relaxed.

Reflexologists do not diagnose illnesses or claim to cure conditions or prescribe medication.  They seek to encourage the body to get back into balance.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult during their treatment.

Gift vouchers are available and are ideal for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas, Anniversaries, thank you presents or as a lovely treat for someone you care about.

I am happy to consider a gift voucher donation for charity raffles

Pamper Parties

Would you be interested in hosting a pamper party for your friends?

This would involve me giving you and your friends a 20 minute Indian head massage or taster reflexology treatment for just £10 per person, and what’s more, you as hostess would get your treatment FREE! All you need to do is provide your friends with some food and drinks, or better still get them to bring a bottle, and you can have a really enjoyable and pampering evening!

I would be able to treat a minimum of 4 people and maximum of 10 people in one sesson.

So if you fancy a girls’ night in (although men are not excluded!) why not contact me on:
